Overview
AtkinsRéalis has been retained as the Delivery Partner for the City of Calgary Green Line Project. In this capacity, AtkinsRéalis provides oversight of the Prime Contractors on behalf of the City. We are looking for a Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Coordinator to be part of the Project's'Health and Safety Team. The position reports to the Health and Safety Manager for the Project.
The HSE Coordinator will provide day-to-day verification that Prime Contractors are undertaking their work in compliance with their established safety systems. Additionally, the HSE Coordinator will provide guidance and mentorship to site workers and Project Staff.
The role provides strategic HSE oversight and serves as the initial point of contact between AtkinsRéalis project teams and the Prime Contractors. This position is accountable for translating HSE strategy into practical, effective systems and for providing expert guidance, assurance, and challenging project teams and contractors to drive safe and compliant project outcomes.
Your role
- Provide HSE leadership - Develop, communicate and coordinate the HSE Strategic Plan for the Project.
- Support and advise all directors, managers, consultants and other staff.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for HSE oversight on the overall portfolio.
- Work with Prime Contractors to align expectations and requirements on both projects and on the entire portfolios HSE requirements.
- Assist with HSE client database, training assignment and new staff onboarding.
- Complete the review, assessment and evaluation of contractor Safety Management Plans (SMPs), pre-mobilizations documentation, processes and procedures, etc.
- Provide Project assurance and auditing to ensure that all requirements including processes and procedures needed for Project Safety Management Plans SMPs are established, implemented, and maintained.
- Provide Project HSE Guidance and Support, including technical expectations, regulatory requirements (prime Contractor), etc.
- Investigating HSE related reports and ensuring that the principles of continuous improvement are applied.
- Includes Event Management (reporting and Investigation).
- Review accident and incident statistics, identify trends and recommend preventive and corrective action.
- Reviewing and communicating safety updates to Prime Contractors as required.

About you
- Post secondary OHS certificate, diploma and/or degree, mandatory.
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation (preferred, not essential).
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the development, implementation, maintenance and management of HSE for projects of similar scope and complexity.
- Candidate must have strong organizational skills to track HSE requirements, and expectations throughout the ongoing projects span.
- Ability to interact and engage with understanding, decisiveness, and professionalism.
- Be highly motivated, with strong integrity, commitment, and adaptability.
