Six months in and managing Canadian snow plow operators from Bengaluru: Kavya on her first year at AtkinsRéalis

In just six months at AtkinsRéalis, Kavya stepped into managing international coordination for Canadian snow plow operations from Bengaluru. Her journey reflects how early responsibility, supportive teams, and a culture of trust can accelerate growth from day one.

Kavya had been with AtkinsRéalis for only six months when her manager asked her to take on the Brunway Project, coordinating snow plow operators for the Fall 2025 season in Canada. From Bengaluru.  

“It turned out to be a great opportunity to collaborate with our stakeholders and learn from the experience,” she says. She was also trusted with the monthly quality report, responsibilities she wouldn’t have expected so early. “Even though I had only been with the team for six months, she trusted me.” 

10 months ago, Kavya joined AtkinsRéalis as an Analyst in the Canada onboarding team, based in Bengaluru. Her role is making sure new employees joining the Canadian business transition smoothly into their roles, from process coordination to ensuring people settle in comfortably. Outside of work, she does yoga, cooks when she finds the time, watches films, and spends time with family. 

From learning to contributing 

The shift over the past year has been significant. “When I first joined, I was primarily focused on understanding the basics, learning the process, the tools, and how the team operates. Now I’m much more comfortable navigating the work independently and contributing proactively.” 

“The biggest shift has been moving from a learning phase to a contributing phase where I’m not just executing tasks but actively adding value.”

Ask Kavya what she’d tell someone thinking about joining and she focuses on the people.

That support showed up from day one. “When I joined, my team trained me on the whole process, and whenever I had even the smallest doubt or confusion, they helped me out patiently without any hesitation. My manager always encourages me to take on new responsibilities, which has really helped me grow.”

“Stay curious, and don’t hesitate to seek support. There are plenty of opportunities to learn new things and build your skills. It’s a positive and inclusive environment where your work is appreciated, and you can genuinely grow.”
