Overview

We are looking for a hydrogeologist to join our team and work at the forefront of managing the challenges of providing resilient and environmentally sustainable water supplies for the future, while ensuring water habitats are protected from new infrastructure development. We are undertaking an increasing number and range of important and exciting projects that involve groundwater resource evaluation, development and management and environmental impact investigation for water companies, other major water users and regulators. Building on this success, we are growing our team, and this growth could include you. As an already experienced, and ideally chartered, hydrogeologist, you will have led and delivered groundwater related project tasks in Ireland, the UK and/or internationally. You will work closely with our technical specialists who are based in our established teams across Ireland, both the Republic and in the North, and in the UK. We have a friendly and approachable team with a strong reputation for delivering excellence with multiple clients.
Your role
- Win, deliver and manage a portfolio of hydrogeology projects.
- Develop trusted client relationships.
- Champion high standards of performance, and influence project development.
- Undertake work to a high standard, ensuring accuracy and quality.
- Undertake and delegate complex problem solving, data gathering, processing, calculations, modelling and conceptualisation.
- Write high quality reports and impact assessment.
- Undertake proposal writing and costing.
- Work closely with other hydrogeologists, sometimes delegating to, reviewing the work of and mentoring more junior staff.
- Work collaboratively with other technical disciplines.

About you
- A degree in science, engineering or mathematics.
- Chartered or equivalent.
- Demonstrable experience within consultancy, water company, regulator or academic fields.
- Experience of water resources hydrogeology.
- Understanding links between surface and groundwater, abstraction, flooding and low flows.
- Knowledge of the Water Framework Directive.
- Experience of groundwater and aquifer catchment water quality.
- Experience of contaminated land and relation to groundwater.
- Experience of Water Chapters for EIARs.
- Experience of WFD screening, scoping and assessment reports.
- Knowledge of the operational and environmental regulatory framework of water management in Ireland.
- A good understanding of Irish hydrogeology, in particular the karstic systems common in Ireland.
- You will have valid full, clean Irish driving licence.
- Experience of signal and pumping tests, borehole design, groundwater flooding and/or water resource planning.
- Experience of the UK Water industry and No Deterioration, Environmental Destination, Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP), Water Resources Management Planning (WRMP) and drought planning.
