Senior Technical Director / Technical Director, MEP

Overview

This is a senior leadership position based in Hong Kong, focused on leading Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) engineering for major infrastructure and building projects. The role combines technical oversight, team management, client engagement, and strategic business development across Asia.

Your role

  • Technical Leadership & Project Delivery
    • Oversee design, documentation, and execution of commercial, institutional, and infrastructure projects.
    • Vet deliverables and resolve complex technical issues.
    • Liaise with client team in relation to project progress, decisions, and changes.
    • Ensure MEP solutions integrate sustainability, and BIM coordination.
  • Business Development & Client Management
    • Cultivate relationships with public and private sector clients.
    • Lead bids and commercial negotiations for large scale capital works projects.
    • Seek business opportunities across Asia regions
    • Lead preparation of tender proposals
  • Team & Operational Excellence
    • Manage 15+ engineers, recruit talent and conduct technical training.
    • Manage internal costs and budgets
  • Innovation & Compliance
    • Implement client centric, sustainable-driven solutions and secure government approvals.
    • Advise on Hong Kong regulations

About you

  • Bachelor's / Master's Degree in mechanical, electrical and/or building services engineering
  • HKIE Corporate membership (Mechanical, Electrical, BS Discipline) or equivalent (e.g. MIMechE, MIET, MCIBSE)
  • At least 12 years' post-chartered experience with more than 8 years' experience in managing a team
  • Experience in infrastructure and building projects
  • Proven technical design capabilities in MEP division
  • Track record of delivering large scale HK/China assignments
  • Excellent understanding of HK construction regulation and legislation
  • Experience in design, construction supervision and project management and familiar with the government submission procedures and quasi-government submission procedures (MTRC, Airport Authority)
  • Expertise in Hong Kong statutory submissions (e.g. FSD, WSD, EPD etc.)
