Lead Designer - BIM (Revit Structures)

Overview

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a experienced Lead Designer to join our Nuclear New Build (NNB) delivery team. This role involves leading BIM/CAD teams, managing complex packages of work with minimal supervision, and supporting project delivery through technical excellence and leadership.

The ideal candidate will be a people, process, and tools-focused professional, committed to driving quality and innovation in design, delivery, and digital practices. The opportunities we offer are varied in terms of size and responsibility levels, ranging from delivering our consultancy services to working directly with client organizations to support their projects and programs.

Your role

  • To perform this role successfully, the individual will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
  • To be part of the AtkinsRéalis NNB delivery team.
  • To lead and manage CAD/BIM packages with minimal supervision.
  • To technically supervise and mentor CAD/BIM technicians.
  • To ensure deliverables meet client scope, budget, and quality expectations.
  • To implement and enforce CAD/BIM standards across projects.
  • To identify training needs and support team development.
  • To support project teams in proposal and delivery phases.
  • Requirements:
  • Capable of independently producing Revit models in coordination with Architecture/MEP.
  • Strong experience in reinforced concrete and steel structures.
  • Able to develop GA's, sections, and detailed drawings (RC and Steel) independently.
  • Competent in checking and assigning detailing work.
  • Ensures drawings comply with UK/ME/Canada regional standards.
  • Demonstrates understanding of commercial aspects of project management.
  • Leads innovation and continuous improvement within the team.

About you

  • Diploma or bachelor's degree in civil engineering with 5 - 7 years of experience in delivering multidisciplinary projects. Advanced knowledge of CAD/BIM tools, team leadership, and coordination with project management and senior engineering teams is essential.
