Project Human Resources Business Partner

Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources of the Joint Venture Bruce Power Projects, the Human Resources Business Partner would be the single point of contact for all Atkins Realis Joint Venture employees assigned to the Bruce Power projects.

This hands-on, dynamic generalist role would support all of the Bruce Power project teams, supporting all of the Managers and Employees including talent acquisition, administration, training & development, employee engagement, workforce planning, talent development and management, and employee relations

This role will be based in Pickering, ON

Your role within the team:

  • Joint Venture Specific Duties:

    • Manage JV employee lists, and Project Assignment letters, determining policy eligibility for all new project staff including company and project transfers.

    • Administer and oversee project Living Out Allowance process in conjunction with Administration and as per Travel & Per Diem Policy, including tracking and collecting all necessary forms and supporting documentation.

    • Manage job descriptions and revise as needed.

    • Maintain project recruitment tracker and hiring schedule for weekly resource meeting.

    • Owns the project on-boarding process, ensuring all new employees have the proper equipment and access for their first day, including IT setup, project hire announcements.

    • Schedule and deliver weekly Project Orientation.

    • Participate in the Joint Venture co-op program through recruitment activities, scheduling site tours with site staff each term (ensuring all necessary student paperwork is in place) and end of term event.

    • Be the single point of contact for JV Partners Human Resources departments.

    • RecruitmentTop of Form.

    • Advise clients on role requirements, development of role profiles, and job analysis.

    • Provide headcount projection and strategic workforce planning support.

    • Interview alongside hiring managers, performing thorough candidate assessments.

  • Compensation & BenefitsTop of Form:

    • Conduct compensation impact analysis as required, for various purposes including streamlining and organizational structure analysis, market data assessments and recommendations.

    • Work with the Home Company Human Resources team on any disability case management.

  • Employee Relations:Top of Form

    • Effective situation/ conflict management, working closely with managers to ensure employee relations issues are handled professionally and timely.

    • Proactive outreach HR communications (supporting town halls, leadership/ operational team meetings, etc).

    • Case management and investigations.

    • Coaching managers and employees as required, applying progressive discipline principles as appropriate.

    • JV Policy interpretation and application.

    • Work closely with applicable home company HR teams to facilitate promotions, demotions, transfers, relocations, retirements, and terminations in a professional manner. Ensuring balance between project and employee needs.

  • Talent Management:Top of Form

    • Support managers with performance management and objective setting during the regular cycle as well as when required. Effectively creating clear connections to Project plans.

    • Facilitate Talent Reviews for the project teams and ensure appropriate follow up on actions.

    • Ensure training needs for the business are evaluated and appropriate training selected, reinforced and tracked.

    • Support succession management initiatives and ensure appropriate succession plans are in place for the project.

    • Support the roll-out of various home company corporate initiatives as required and alter if necessary to suit the JV.

  • HR Team Management:

    • Work closely with the home company Human Resources teams to keep them continually up to date of all project Human Resources issues.

The ideal candidate:

  • Post secondary school education in Human Resources Management.

  • Working towards CHRL designation.

  • A minimum of 5 years HR Generalist experience.

  • Prior experience working in unionized environment would be an asset.

  • Ability to work in a fact paced, dynamic and matrixed environment/ structure with high resiliency.

  • Superior problem-solving skills, ability to demonstrate agility in creating valuable solutions to complex issues quickly.

  • Versatility in HR portfolio is required; full scope employee life cycle, compensation, recruitment, talent management are a must. Organizational development experience is highly desirable.

  • Tactful and effective written and verbal communication skills, ability to interact with all levels within the organization and influence as required.

  • Strong analytical skills: ability to digest complex issues and simplify to enable appropriate action.

  • Ability to build a consensus among peers to support human resources strategies.

  • Fiscal Responsibility:

    • Fiscal responsibility as required by the Joint Venture agreement.

  • Extent of public contact:

    • Various External candidates when interviewing

    • Various external training facilities & facilitators

    • Various government agencies

    • Various recruitment agencies

  • Physical Demands:

    • Office environment, some travel require.

    • Extreme time pressures

  • Other qualifications:

    • Due to the nature of work conducted by Shoreline, mandated nuclear export controls requirements must be met for employment.

    • Our background check process includes a full security check and clearance process as well as reference checks. The security clearance process includes a comprehensive list of previous residences, employment, education, and other pertinent information. Those with a valid Bruce Power security clearance are strongly preferred.
