Resident Engineer – Iconic / Interchange / Special Stations

Overview

We are seeking a seasoned with deep expertise in delivering large, iconic, interchange, and complex metro stations in the UAE. The Resident Engineer – Iconic / Interchange / Special Stations will be fully responsible for the complete delivery of the assigned station, ensuring quality, safety, compliance, programme adherence, and seamless multidisciplinary coordination. The role reports directly to the Construction Director and involves oversight of all civil, structural, architectural, and interface activities from foundations to finishing.

Your role

Full Ownership of Station Delivery

  • Take complete responsibility and accountability for the overall delivery of the assigned station.
  • Serve as the single point of authority on-site for all station-related construction matters.
  • Ensure all works comply with project specifications, authority standards, and programme milestones.

Leadership & Site Management

  • Lead and manage the full supervision team (discipline engineers, inspectors, QS, HSE, planning).
  • Conduct daily coordination meetings and ensure alignment across all contractors and stakeholders.
  • Report station progress, risks, issues, and resolutions directly to the Construction Director.

Technical Oversight (Foundation → Structure → Finishing)

  • Oversee all deep foundation works including piling, diaphragm walls, raft foundations, and soil improvement.
  • Supervise substructure and superstructure execution (concourse, platform, ancillary buildings).
  • Ensure architectural and finishing works—including flooring, cladding, ceilings, façade, internal fit-outs, and public areas—are executed to the highest standards.
  • Review and approve method statements, shop drawings, materials, ITPs, and temporary works designs.

Complex Station Expertise

  • Provide specialist guidance for:
    • Iconic stations with signature architecture
    • Interchange stations with high passenger capacity & multiple line interfaces
    • Special stations with unique geometry, complex structures, or challenging interfaces
  • Resolve design and interface issues between civil, structural, architectural, MEP, systems, and trackwork.

Compliance, Safety & Quality Management

  • Enforce strict compliance with UAE regulations, metro authority standards, and international codes.
  • Oversee NCRs, quality audits, testing/inspection protocols, and closing of site issues.
  • Ensure station works adhere to approved HSE plans and highest safety standards.

Programme, Coordination & Reporting

  • Monitor and enforce adherence to project timelines and lookahead schedules.
  • Provide proactive resolution of delays, sequencing clashes, and technical bottlenecks.
  • Prepare and submit station progress reports, risks, mitigation plans, and status updates to the Construction Director.

About you

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; Master's preferred.
  • Professional certification (PE, CEng, etc.) is advantageous.
  • 25+ years of experience in civil engineering, with proven expertise in:
    • Metro/rail station delivery
    • Iconic / Interchange / Special stations
    • Deep foundations, structural works, architectural finishes
    • UAE major infrastructure projects
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Deep understanding of metro station construction methodology, sequencing, and multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem‑solving skills.
