Overview

Water and Environment Practice are looking for Senior/Lead/Principal- Engineer to play a key role in successful delivery of projects for the Rivers, Dams, Maritime and Coastal team in Bangalore or Mumbai.

Rivers, Dams, Maritime and Costal provides end to end infrastructure engineering to a diverse array of projects. Our services range from harnessing water's true power from vast dam retaining structures and safely routing raging rivers through our towns, to taming the seas' effects on our coasts and ports.

you will have the opportunity to apply and diversify your skills in the delivery of high-profile Dam & Reservoir engineering projects by focusing on vast design capabilities covering Hydrological & water resource modelling, Dam Hydraulics, Hydraulic structural design, Overtopping & Stability assessment. The role involves carrying out design calculations with continuous learning and upskilling, continuous guidance and collaboration with design originator, project and deliverable management, team capability development and client liaison to achieve sustainable and innovative solutions for Dam & Reservoir infrastructure thereby enhancing ownership, upskilling, quality, efficiency in delivery.

Your role

  • Experience required for across levels, range:5 -18 Years
  • Demonstrate high level of understanding on the principles and practices of Dam and reservoir Hydrology, River & Dam hydraulics, Flood modelling (and/or) Dam layout design, Structural design of Dam components, Stability, and Overtopping analysis etc.
  • Demonstrate the ability to carry out detailed engineering calculations for the projects in Dam & Reservoir settings, including major design calculations on hydro/hydro-metrological studies, water resource modelling, flood studies including wave overtopping analysis, Hydrology, Hydraulic calculations.
  • Ability to carry out Structural calculations of various dams(Concrete gravity dams, Thin shell Arch dam, Earthen & rockfill dams), barrages, spillways, stilling basins, intake, retaining walls, slope stability analysis, foundation design etc.
  • Demonstrate capability to carry out drawdown studies for Dams to assess Dam failure, Internal erosion, Pressured flow systems, Siphons etc.
  • Possess proficiency in performing advanced engineering calculations covering Geotechnical calculations, Hydro mechanical calculations (gates, lifting arrangements) etc will be considered as an added advantage.
  • Exhibit proficiency on structural requirement of different dams, Geotechnical, hydrology and hydrodynamic interfacing, Instrumentation & monitoring aspects of Dam engineering.
  • Possess working knowledge on carrying out Reservoir Risk Assessment across various stages (Environmental, Construction & contract, Operational stages).
  • Lead feasibility studies, concept development, and detailed design packages with relevant code knowledge and experience.
  • Demonstrates the ability to select appropriate analytical techniques to deconstruct complex problems into manageable components and effectively present technical project work to clients.
  • Manage project deliverables while consistently maintaining high standards of quality, innovation, and compliance with client requirements.
  • Learning and develop digital adoption through digital tools and services to achieve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (geotechnical, environmental, structural, hydrology, Dam hydrodynamics, planning specialists etc).
  • Ability to learn and work towards adoption of Carbon Insights tools.
  • Assigning work to technicians/apprentices and providing support with the development of junior colleague.

About you

  • Bachelor'S or master's'in Civils / Structures (Dam and Reservoirs preferrred ) discipline from recognized university with minimum of 6 years of working experience in the relevant field.
  • Dam engineering designs covering any/all of the mentioned as follows : Hydro-metrological studies, Dam hydrology, Reservoir Hydraulic calculations, flood modelling studies, Draw down studies, Structural calculations, Dam stability and overtopping analysis.
  • The candidate must possess strong knowledge of codes and standards such as Eurocode, BS codes, Reservoir Safety Act 1975, ensuring regulatory compliance and best practices in Dam related design and analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of UK policies, Dam Risk Assessments, UK frameworks, and environmental legislation will be an added advantage.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to prepare comprehensive technical reports, and collaborate effectively within diverse team environments involving staff, clients, and stakeholders
  • Proficiency in digital tools will be an added advantage.
  • Adapts plans and actions in response to change and remains flexible under reasonable circumstances
