As infrastructure becomes increasingly connected, the challenges facing organisations are evolving just as quickly. Rail networks, airports, operational technology systems, and critical infrastructure are no longer just physical assets. They are complex, integrated environments that rely on technology, connectivity, and resilience to operate safely and efficiently.
For Basri, helping clients navigate that complexity has been a defining part of his career.
As an Associate Technical Director within AtkinsRéalis’ Systems Engineering and Assurance team in Asia, Basri also serves as Asia Regional Cyber Resilience Discipline Lead, with a focus on OT cybersecurity. He works across rail, aviation, maritime, and critical infrastructure, bringing together expertise in systems assurance, operational technology (OT), telecommunications, and cybersecurity. In his regional cyber resilience role, he helps connect teams and expertise across Asia, supporting collaboration and knowledge sharing to address evolving OT cybersecurity and resilience challenges across critical infrastructure.

A career shaped by continuous learning
Basri's career began across air traffic systems, rail systems, and telecommunications, where he built a strong technical foundation through the delivery of complex transportation infrastructure projects. As his career progressed, his role broadened from hands-on technical delivery to systems assurance, OT cybersecurity, business development, and team leadership, giving him a wider perspective on how technology, safety, cybersecurity, resilience, and operational performance come together across critical infrastructure.
That evolution has allowed him to combine technical expertise with strategic thinking, helping clients understand risks, navigate complex challenges, and make informed decisions about the systems they rely on every day.
Looking back, Basri believes one of the most rewarding aspects of his career has been the opportunity to continuously learn and adapt as technologies, industries, and client needs have evolved.
The power of collaboration across borders
Since joining AtkinsRéalis, Basri has worked alongside colleagues and clients across multiple countries, supporting a wide range of transportation, aviation, and critical infrastructure projects throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
One of his most memorable experiences has been collaborating with several teams from different locations to pursue and deliver major projects. Bringing together specialists with different perspectives, technical expertise, and cultural backgrounds creates opportunities to solve problems in ways that no single individual or team could achieve alone.
For Basri, those experiences are a reminder that some of the most innovative solutions emerge when people work together towards a common goal.
The variety of expertise available across AtkinsRéalis is something he particularly values.
"Whether it's rail systems, cybersecurity, aviation, or digital solutions, there is always someone willing to share knowledge and help solve challenges together."
It's an environment that encourages collaboration, learning, and the exchange of ideas, all of which have played an important role in his professional growth.
Making an impact across Southeast Asia
Over the years, Basri has supported transportation, aviation, and critical infrastructure projects across Southeast Asia, working across disciplines including telecommunications, systems assurance, operational technology, and cybersecurity.
Alongside project delivery, he has also contributed to major pursuits and client engagements, helping showcase AtkinsRéalis' expertise across sectors ranging from rail and aviation to buildings, maritime, and data centres.
For him, one of the most rewarding aspects of the role is knowing that the work contributes not only to client success, but also to the development of safer, smarter, and more resilient infrastructure throughout the region.
As infrastructure becomes increasingly digital, these considerations are becoming more important than ever.
Preparing for the next generation of infrastructure
While technology continues to create new opportunities, it also introduces new challenges.
Basri believes that one of the biggest opportunities facing the industry is helping organisations successfully navigate rapid technological change. As systems become more interconnected, infrastructure owners must balance innovation with safety, cybersecurity, resilience, and long-term operational performance.
This is where he sees significant opportunities for both clients and AtkinsRéalis.
By combining expertise across engineering, digital solutions, systems assurance, and cybersecurity, organisations can build infrastructure that is not only smarter, but also better equipped to meet future challenges.
For Basri, supporting that journey is one of the most exciting aspects of his role.
Supporting the next generation
As his career continues to evolve, Basri is equally passionate about supporting others along the way.
He believes that great leaders create opportunities for people to grow, listen to different perspectives, and help their teams succeed. Throughout his own career, he has benefited from working alongside talented colleagues and mentors who were willing to share their knowledge and experience.
Now, he hopes to do the same for the next generation of professionals entering the industry.
As infrastructure continues to evolve, so too will the skills and expertise needed to support it. By sharing knowledge, encouraging collaboration, and investing in people, Basri believes organisations can build stronger teams capable of solving the challenges of tomorrow.
Looking to the future
Reflecting on his journey so far, Basri sees a career defined by curiosity, collaboration, and continuous growth. From transportation systems to systems assurance and cybersecurity, each opportunity has helped broaden his perspective and reinforce the importance of building infrastructure that people can depend on.
As AtkinsRéalis continues to grow throughout Southeast Asia, he looks forward to helping clients navigate increasingly connected environments while supporting the next generation of technical talent across the region.
Because ultimately, the future of infrastructure isn't just about technology. It's about the people who design it, protect it, and work together to make it possible.
