“Recognition, reflection, and responsibility”: Nidhie on leading UK infrastructure frameworks from India, mentoring with purpose, and what IWD really means

Nidhie is a Delivery Manager based in Gurgaon, India. From her desk, she leads the WECA, Oxfordshire, and Herefordshire frameworks, delivering infrastructure projects that improve roads, connectivity, and daily life for communities across the UK.

It’s a role that spans borders by design.

“I have the privilege of leading work that connects people, places, and possibilities across borders,” she says. “I lead with a strong focus on delivering high-quality outcomes for our UK region, while building the bridge between India and the UK.”

Safer roads, better connectivity

The impact of Nidhie’s work shows up in real places.

“The work we do translates into real improvements for communities; safer roads, better connectivity, and infrastructure that supports daily life,” she says. “Knowing that my role contributes to something that positively touches people’s lives makes the impact truly rewarding.”

Her role involves building seamless collaboration between teams in India and the UK, improving decision-making, accelerating delivery, and ensuring that projects aren’t just meeting expectations but adding value through better processes and governance.

“For me, leadership is about lifting others, championing diverse perspectives, and delivering not just with efficiency, but with purpose.”

A culture that gives back what you put in

To Nidhie, the feedback loop between effort and opportunity is what stands out about AtkinsRéalis’s culture.

“Every contribution is reflected back in opportunities and growth,” she says. “When we invest in our work, our teams, and each other, the organisation returns that investment with trust, opportunities, and growth.”

“I’ve experienced firsthand how giving your best - whether it’s time, mentorship, or simply showing up with dedication, creates a ripple effect. The more you contribute, the more empowered you feel.”

Flexibility that makes motherhood and leadership work together

Nidhie is direct about what enables her to do her best work.

“The flexibility in my role allows me to balance work and home with ease,” she says. “As a mother, being able to manage my professional responsibilities while caring for my kid is incredibly empowering. This balance keeps me motivated and helps me bring my best self to work every day.”

“I deeply value the way AtkinsRéalis supports and uplifts female employees. The environment here makes women feel confident, respected, and encouraged to take on leadership roles.”

Watching people rise

Mentoring isn’t a side activity for Nidhie, it’s central to how she leads.

“I’ve watched team members who once hesitated to speak up become proactive contributors, ready to take ownership and lead tasks independently,” she says. “By giving them opportunities, trusting them with responsibility, and being available when they need support, I’ve seen them step into their potential and grow faster than they imagined.”

“What makes me proudest is seeing their initiative, their problem-solving mindset, and their willingness to go the extra mile. When you invest in people with time, encouragement, and genuine belief, they rise and the whole team rises with them.”

What International Women’s Day means

For Nidhie, IWD comes down to three things.

“Recognition - it’s a day to celebrate the strength, compassion, and intelligence of women in every role they do.”

“Reflection - it’s a moment to pause and think. Are we setting equal opportunities? Are voices heard? Are we supporting dreams? We’ve progressed a lot, but there’s still work to do.”

“Responsibility - it’s not just a celebration with flowers and posts. It’s a reminder that equality is everyone’s responsibility; at home, in the workplace, and in society.”

“Personally, I feel it’s a day when we should promise to create a world where every girl can dream big and every woman can achieve without limits.”
