About the role - Digital & Technology Specialist
We envision a future where we've grown a team of over 4,000 nuclear engineers and specialists, and made them superhuman using the latest in digital solutions, AI and robotics.
Calling all forward-thinking tech enthusiasts, hackers, makers, coders, engineers and problem solvers. This is your platform to develop solutions that seamlessly integrate advanced digital technologies such as reality capture, robotics, advanced analytics, and immersive reality. Transform project delivery in the nuclear industry working with a like-minded team at our new regional hub in Manchester, UK, and collaborating with our global business across Europe, the Middle East, Canada and the USA.
Our #HackaFuture event fuses a dynamic and exciting hackathon with a recruitment event - the winning team of FIVE will be offered roles as Digital & Technology Specialists in AtkinsRéalis' nuclear business, including a competitive salary and benefits package, and a £3,000 joining bonus to help you get settled and bring your best self to work in Manchester.

Join our tech talent community
Echoing the unique nature of the role and the people we're looking for, this is a unique recruitment process. There's no formal interview process - #HackaFuture is your chance to let your skills shine through. To apply, there's just a short form to complete outlining your passions, career (if relevant) and achievements to date. Be assured, we value strengths and attitude over formal qualifications or years of experience. If you have a portfolio, video, app or other content that showcases your expertise and sets you or your team apart from other applicants, please include it.
Ahead of the weekend, if you don't register in a team of 5, we’ll help you form a team with other applicants whose skills complement and balance with your own. When the challenge brief is revealed in January, you will start to work together, supported by tools, guidance and tips from the AtkinsRéalis team. So, if you know other people who'd love to join your #HackaFuture team, please refer them to the application process, and note their name/s in your own application.
Closing date for applications: 30th November 2024.
We will notify shortlisted candidates by: 20th December 2024.
3. #HackaFuture event - 8th-9th February 2025, Manchester Marriott Victoria & Albert hotel
This is going to be fun. If you're invited to attend, we promise you a recruitment event like no other. You'll arrive at the Marriott V&A on Water Street in central Manchester on Saturday morning, check in, meet your team in person and soon get started on developing your solution. By 11am Sunday morning, all solutions must be submitted, and then presented shortly after. Following a lunch break, there will be a full celebration of your achievements, plus awarding the winning team - there's going to be plenty going on!
We will publish more details about the challenge you'll be facing soon, but here's some teasers about what you will be working on at the event:
- AI accelerating Net Zero
- Digitalization of nuclear sites
- Robotics reducing risk
Winning solutions
Deliverables
- On Sunday, 9th February, you will present a pitch presentation explaining your proposed solution, and its impact.
- A working prototype of the solution.
- Documentation outlining the technical implementation and future scalability.
All the members of the winning team will be offered a role and investment from AtkinsRéalis to develop their solution with mentorship from our digital leaders, support from our Global Technology Centre and our technology partners, Microsoft and others. In addition to a competitive salary and benefits package, each successful applicant will receive a joining bonus of £3,000 which you may choose to put towards living and relocation costs.
For other individuals who demonstrate strong skills over the weekend, we will let you know about new roles that become available as our team grows.
