Overview
The Project Engineering Manager will join the Engineering Management practice within the Technical Professional Organization (TPO) of Engineering Services Canada. The Project Engineering Manager will play a lead role in the delivery of Engineering Services on large and complex projects (generally Class 3 & 4 projects) while also supporting the growth of the Engineering Management practice.
Reporting to the Director of Operations of the Engineering Management practice, the Project Engineering Manager will be assigned to a project. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, exceptional technical expertise, multi-disciplinary engineering experience, and a proven track record of managing engineering of large-scale projects.
Your role
Engineering Planning and Execution:
- Collaborate with Win Work and Market Lead to define proposal timelines, deliverables and efforts, ensuring alignment with client requirements and overall business objectives.
- Collaborate with Project Delivery team to define project goals, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with client requirements and overall business objectives.
- Oversee the engineering project lifecycle, including design, development, testing, and implementation, while managing resources effectively.
- Oversee the Project Design Execution Plan.
- Oversee the inter-disciplinary technical coordination.
- Review contract documents to ensure all deliverables and obligations associated with the scope of work are fully understood and identified.
- Review work hour estimate for the project and ensure budget and schedule are adhered to.
- Monitor project progress, identify and mitigate risks, and resolve any issues or bottlenecks that may impact project timelines or quality.
- Prepare and submit project monthly reporting to the Engineering Management Practice director.
Technical Expertise and Quality Assurance:
- Provide technical guidance and expertise to the engineering team, ensuring the use of industry best practices and standards.
- Conduct regular reviews and quality assessments of engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with project requirements, specifications, and quality standards.
- Promotes a Value Engineering culture throughout the project life cycle.
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives to enhance engineering processes, methodologies, and tools, driving efficiency and productivity.
- Actively act in the role of Engineering Manager on a major project.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, architects, vendors, contractors, and regulatory authorities, to ensure project success.
- Engage in effective communication, providing regular engineering updates, addressing concerns, and managing expectations to foster strong client relationships.
- Actively participate in meetings, presentations, and technical discussions, representing the engineering team and providing expert insights and recommendations.

About you
- Bachelor'S or master's degree in engineering or a related field with 20+ years of experience in a relevant field.Minimum 10 years of experience in engineering management, overseeing complex engineering projects and leading multidisciplinary teams.
- Proven project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage resources, and deliver projects within budget and on schedule.
- Familiarity with relevant engineering software, tools, and technologies.
- Ability to obtain relevant professional designation in multiple jurisdictions across Canada.
- Strong technical expertise in a relevant engineering discipline, with a deep understanding of engineering principles, methodologies, and best practices.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire, unify and motivate team members to achieve project goals.
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex technical information to diverse audiences (both French and English are an asset).
