Public Information Specialist

Your Role

  • Support the planning and execution of public outreach efforts for projects of varying size and complexity.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure outreach activities align with project goals and client expectations.
  • Help identify outreach objectives and contribute ideas for effective engagement strategies.
  • Assist with and participate in public meetings, community events, and presentations.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain project outreach materials and documentation.
  • Develop content for communications materials such as newsletters, fact sheets, presentations, and web updates.
  • Collaborate with clients and team members to develop clear messaging and outreach approaches.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Public Outreach Plans.
  • Track outreach activities and help prepare regular reports on progress and outcomes.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders, community members, and project partners.
  • Provide coordination and support to team members and contribute to a collaborative work environment.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in communications, public relations, or public outreach.
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to different audiences.
  • Experience creating communications materials (e.g., newsletters, social content, presentations, reports).
  • Organized and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative team player with a proactive, growth-oriented mindset.
  • Proficient with standard office and communication tools.
  • Willingness to travel locally as needed; valid driver's license required.

Overview

Based in Jacksonville, Florida, the Public Information Specialist plays a key role in supporting and delivering public outreach and communications programs for a variety of infrastructure and community-focused projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a communications professional with to grow their skills in stakeholder engagement, project coordination, and public communications.

In this role, you'll work closely with experienced teams to help plan and execute outreach strategies that connect clients with communities, regulatory agencies, and key stakeholders. You'll contribute to meaningful projects while building your expertise in public involvement, media relations, and project communications.

Additional information

Expected compensation range is between $65,000 - $85,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
