AtkinsRealis Consulting, Strategy and Advisory (CS&A) team combines management consulting, advisory and technical capabilities to help clients solve complex front-end problems in the built environment. There is an increasing demand for strategic environmental and sustainability consultancy services within the Middle East, to support the growth of community development and infrastructure projects in real estate, government, utilities (energy, water and waste) and transport sectors. Our clients in these built environment sectors need Environmental strategies not only at the project level, but also at the corporate portfolio and organisational levels. Our CS&A team requires an experienced senior Environmental Consultant to join our center of to join our team in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The successful candidate will have proven experience in strategic Environmental Consulting on large-scale international projects and ideally in the UAE and the wider Middle East region,

Your role

The role will require a strong environmental permitting background and experience in delivering environmental studies in the UAE and wider Middle East. (e.g. UAE, KSA), with a focus in the UAE. It will also entail having a good strong work established relationship with the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) and ideally with Dubai Environment and Climate Change Authority (DECCA) and National Center for Environmental Compliance (NCEC) as the role will involve regular and close coordination with these authorities.

About you

  • Holds a degree qualified in relevant field (BSc/MSc/PhD) (e.g. Environmental Science, Planning).
  • Holds an EIA Practitioner, chartered status and / or full membership of a recognised relevant professional body (e.g. Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals (ISEP).
  • 8+ years' experience in strategic Environmental advisory and permitting including delivery of environmental studies (e.g. Strategic Environmental Assessment and Environmental Impact Assessment) and understanding its application to projects in the Middle East region and internationally.
  • In-depth knowledge on local and international environmental regulatory frameworks, guidance and standards.
  • Experience in tackling multidisciplinary consultancy or service projects that cross traditional engineering and other disciplines, such as urban planning, and engineering.
  • Experience in leading strategic projects and possesses strong general EIA coordination skills, a specialism in marine/coastal, contamination/geo-environmental science, or groundwater/surface water, waste, noise, air quality, ecology would be considered advantageous.
