Your role

· Project Support: Work as part of the AtkinsRéalis Environment team from GTC India, supporting a range of UK ecology and environmental planning projects across various sectors. Collaborate closely with UK colleagues to integrate ecological expertise into multidisciplinary project deliverables.

· Ecological Desk Studies & Data Analysis: Conduct desk-based ecological assessments by analysing site survey data for habitats and species. Support ecological desk studies, helping establish baseline ecological conditions and inform project planning and design.

· Environmental Planning & EIA Support: Contribute to Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and planning consent processes by preparing ecological input sections, baseline descriptions, and technical reports. Assist in evaluating project impacts on biodiversity, and incorporate biodiversity and nature recovery considerations into planning documents and ecological impact assessments.

· GIS Mapping & Spatial Analysis: Use Geographical Information Systems (GIS) (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) to perform spatial analysis and create high-quality maps of ecological features such as habitats, protected species locations, and designated sites. Provide clear visualisations to support environmental reports and decision-making.

· Data Management & Quality Assurance: Manage and interpret ecological data sets with attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and right-first-time delivery. Adhere to high quality standards in data handling, documentation, and reporting.

· Team Collaboration: Work in a virtual team environment, engaging in technical discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions. Take ownership of your work and proactively communicate progress and findings. Contribute positively to team meetings and coordinate effectively with UK-based ecologists, planners, and other specialists.

About you

· Education & Skills: Completed Master's degree (M.Sc) in a relevant field with hands-on knowledge of ecological data analysis and technical report writing.

· Adaptability: Willingness to learn and adapt to UK-specific ecology standards, tools, and data sources, with training and mentoring provided as needed.

· Understanding: Clear and demonstrable understanding of ecological and biodiversity principles, and how they relate to environmental planning and impact assessment processes.

· Communication: Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, along with good written and spoken English for effective communication and report writing.

· Enthusiasm: A genuine passion for ecology and environment, and a proactive approach to continuous learning and professional development.

Essential qualifications:

· Education: Master's degree (M.Sc) in a relevant life science or environmental discipline from a recognised university, such as Zoology, Botany, Wildlife Biology, Ecology & Biodiversity, Environmental Science (ecology-focused), Forestry, or a related field.

· Graduation Year: Recent postgraduates who completed their M.Sc in 2025 or 2026 (fresh graduates or those with limited experience are welcome to apply).

· GIS Proficiency: Strong interest and hands-on experience with GIS tools (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar) applied to ecological or environmental data sets (through academic projects or coursework).

· Language: Good technical report writing skills and fluency in English.

Desired qualifications:

· UK Ecology Awareness: Awareness of or eagerness to learn about UK ecology and environmental regulations (e.g., protected species, Biodiversity Net Gain principles, habitat classifications, nature recovery initiatives) and relevant industry guidance (CIEEM, etc.).

· Data & Analysis: Experience with ecological data analysis methods or software (e.g., basic statistics in R/Python, species distribution or biodiversity data tools) is an advantage.

· Innovation & Tools: Interest in digital innovation and automation in ecological work (e.g., using scripting for data processing, advanced GIS analysis, or visualization techniques) to add value in project delivery.

· Professional Development: Enthusiasm for pursuing further certifications or training in ecology, environmental management, or related technical skills, demonstrating commitment to continuous improvement.
